A few weeks ago, a Brazilian ex-politico and current hobby journalist wrote us in search of THE experts of authentic Lima, particularly its best local bars. Having been the resident expert Sao Paulo guide for TV show personalities in the past (Andrew Zimmern from the Travel Channel, anybody?), this señor knew the kind of real experience and expertise he wanted on his stop in Lima, Peru as part of an 8-month circuit to find the best bars in the world!
We customized 2 exclusive foodie tours for our curious traveler who was eager to learn and drink as much as possible while learning about Peruvian culture and history along the way. Together with our guide Chef Jose, they discovered the nooks and hideaways of historical downtown Lima where traditions are still loud and delicious. Trying pisco sours, chilcanos, algarrobinas, more than a few local beers, the personally crafted bar tour let our visitor smoothly gulp down Lima in all its fantastic chaos and energy!
Later, our traveler sent us some of his favorite pictures from his tours with us:
Here's what our new friend and writer for O Globo, Brazil's largest newspaper, had to say afterwards:
Thank you for the experience! I loved it! José is a great guide and a great guy. I think we went along well. Below, you can see a link to my weblog, in which I wrote about the experience. I hope you are able to translate it to English or Spanish, and I hope you like it... The text a little bit out of the journalistic standards but... Thats my style! :) ... All the best, and I hope we meet again soon!
