One of our larger groups yet, Thomas and his coworkers reached out at the last minute and within a few days, we were all exploring Peru's markets together. Here's what he had to say:
"Myself and a group of five other business travelers had a short stopover in Lima and I emailed Lima te Llena the day before to inquire about their Food & Market tour. A few minutes later I had a detailed response from Connie and the tour was booked. Fast forward to the next morning and our group set off for Parque Kennedy to meet our guide. Our first stop was a local market where we sampled a wide variety of local produce. Everything from mouthwatering fresh figs to maracuya passionfruit, freshly squeezed orange juice to golden aguaymanto berries.
What sets Lima te Llena apart from other guided tours is how the tour is structured to your personal wishes. Everything is totally laid back and tailored specifically to you. After stuffing our faces with local cuisine at our first market, we asked Connie if she could suggest a place to purchase souvenirs later on. She steered us up one street, down another, and ten minutes later we were haggling for jewelry and alpaca clothing.
A long walk through Miraflores and along the Costa Verde from Parque del Amor to Larcomar replenished our appetites and we piled into a cab to head to a local restaurant for lunch. After a few refreshing Cusquenas (Peruvian beer) our food arrived and we happily stole bites of each others ceviche, lomo saltado, and seco de res.
A stop at a second market offered us an opportunity to stock up on Peruvian snacks like Inca Corn to bring home. All too soon it was time to say adios to Connie and we headed back to our hotel.
Lima te Llena is truly an outstanding tour experience. It strikes a perfect balance between formal tourism and casual local dining. We sampled a vast array of Peruvian cuisine and left with a great overview of Peruvian history and culture, thanks to Connie's knowledge and enthusiasm. We look forward to returning for the Chicha Art Tour."
