Who enjoys your tours?
Our travelers are food and culture lovers of all ages, backgrounds, and lifestyles that are open and interested in discovering the alternative sides of Lima that aren't typically promoted in travel books or online. They are generally adventurous, curious, active, and love to eat and learn. We also cater well to single travelers and couples, not to mention children and families!
Are your tours private or on shared group basis?
All of our tours are on a shared group basis unless otherwise indicated or privately arranged.
If you would like to arrange a guaranteed private tour, please contact us to coordinate details. Additional fees will apply.
My kids are picky or I have a special diet. Can i still take a food tour?
Of course! When you book your tour, let us know what your specific diet or restrictions are (we'll send you a booking form requesting further details) and we will work as hard as possible to accommodate your needs and create a dining and tasting experience that you are most comfortable with.
However, note that authentic Peruvian gastronomy, which is our passion and focus, may not always be vegetarian or vegan friendly. Unfortunately this year 2016, it has been difficult for us to find vendors that offer vegetarian meals and options in our local market, especially in comparison to last year, and ones that are representative of the food history in Peru. Essentially, we cannot guarantee the local availability of certain veggie dishes that we'd love to show you. Should you still be interested in soaking in the Lima's vibrant gastronomic environment with us, we will try our best to substitute as many meat-based ingredients as possible. Exact availability will depend on daily local availability and conditions.
Will I be full after taking a food tour?
What's the point of going on a food tour if you're left wishing for more?! Our programs are based on trying and snacking throughout the course of the tour. Based on the quantity and size of portions you will enjoy, we are confident that you will be pleasantly satisfied after your foodie experience with us.
How much physical activity is required?
We suggest that visitors be able to walk comfortably and independently on flat, paved sidewalk for up to 20 minutes at a time. If you have further mobility concerns, please let us know and we will arrange accordingly (may incur additional charges).
How many people are in a typical tour?
We have no minimum group size for any of our tours.
On the other end of the spectrum, we like to keep our tours to no more than 10 people (unless requested ahead of time) in order to maintain intimacy and personal attention for each of our travelers. If you have a group larger than 10, we will split the group as evenly as possible and enlist the help of our multiple expert guides. Please contact us to coordinate further.
In general, most of our groups are between 2 and 6 people.
Where do your tours start from?
Do you offer cooking classes?
At this time, we do not offer full Peruvian cooking classes. However, we may arrange authentic dish preparation instruction in a real stand at our typical market on our Peruvian Food & Market Tour, as well as activities in our exclusive Tasting Station (more information coming soon)!
Can my tour start at a different time than recommended?
Is it safe to eat and drink at the market and/or on the street?
Safety is always our first and foremost priority and concern. We have long standing and proven relationships with all the vendors that we work with in order to ensure proper hygiene standards are met; in fact, many of the vendors themselves pride themselves on their attention to cleanliness and we didn't have to teach them a thing! We have carefully chosen who we patron: those who observe the correct methods for food cleaning, preparation, cooking, and storage. As well, we work only with vendors who have a consistent customer base to ensure their food or ingredients are always moving and not kept still and stale... and also means they're creating flavors that the people love!
As for the drinks, when we drink water on our tours, we always provide/use bottled water. In juices and other prepared beverages, the water used is always boiled ahead of time per the necessary customs of life in Lima.
Yet, as it is around the world, there is always a risk when consuming foods in a market or street setting. Although we aim to protect your health and our reputation as much as we can, we are not liable for any related losses or ailments.
Can I be picked up from or dropped off at the airport or Port?
The Lima international airport and Callao Port are, for example, about 40 minutes from the historical downtown and about 1 hour from our typical market. Because of the long distance, we are unable to include pickups and dropoffs at the airport and port, but we can add the transfers as extra services for an additional price. Please contact us for more details.
Do you offer tour extensions to see more of Lima?
What language are the tours conducted in?
We offer tours in English by default. Our guides also speak Spanish and Cantonese Chinese on request, please let us know which language you prefer!
Booking & Reservation
How do I book?
1. Book online by clicking here!
2. Visit the webpage of the tour you wish to reserve and click the pink button that says "BOOK ONLINE NOW!" The following steps should be straight forward.
3. Contact us to check availability or let us know any special details or requests. Follow-up communication will be via e-mail with you.
4. Send us an e-mail at email@example.com to reach us directly and to coordinate a customized Lima city tour!
How early should I book?
Due to the growing demand for our tours, we recommend confirming your tour at least 7 days before your preferred tour date due to limited spaces and availability. Our calendar does fill up quite quickly so the sooner you can make your reservation, the better.
How do I pay?
If booking online, a payment form is included as part of the reservation process.
If your tour is confirmed and coordinated privately or by email, we will send you a payment request for credit card payments via PayPal (+5% processing fee, same as if booking through our website).
We do NOT accept cash pickups.
Can I pay in cash or the day of the tour?
No, we must receive payments in advance. This is for general convenience as well as safety, as it is not safe to carry large amounts of cash when exploring Lima.

What should I bring?
Bring your camera, your appetite, cash in small bills and coins for any personal purchases, and sense of creativity and adventure! We also recommend leaving any valuables at home which is a precaution when traveling anywhere in the world.
We will send you a list of suggested things to bring and wear for your specific outing.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable walking shoes, clothing in layers, and sun protection depending on the weather that day. Casual dress.
* Lima is a desert city so it never rains or snows, and the weather is always very mild!
What if I am late to my tour?
Do you accept tips?
While we do not ask for gratuities, feel free to tip your expert local guide(s) if you feel they went above and beyond in showing you a great time during your Lima tour!
