Night Time Lima City Tour with Regional Street Food
[about 4-4.5 Hours]
NOTICE: During the month of October, due to local religious Señor de los Milagros festivities blocking off streets and businesses in historic downtown Lima, availability may be limited.
Why take this tour?
Duration: approximately 4-4.5 hours (4:00pm - 8:30pm or similar)
Departures: daily, EXCEPT SUNDAYS
On this night time Lima city downtown tour with a kick, we take you to all of our favorite and most delicious local haunts in the historical downtown in the capital. Experience a culture completely unique from those in the Miraflores and Barranco Districts modern areas. Come out with us to enjoy some regional foods, snacks, cocktails, and other beverages, many of which you will not easily find in standard restaurants. We focus on hidden local secrets alongside incredible panoramas, and watch as Lima's urban personality changes from the bright of day to the alluring darkness of night!
Your Lima te Llena guide will meet you at your hotel and travel together to the Centro Histórico of Lima where in the evening the colonial architecture and buildings are magically lit up and the area is much more tranquil than during the day.
Your first mission will be to indulge in one of Peru's most popular and well known beers, all while appreciating magnificent bird's eye views of the Presidential and Municipal Palaces, Lima Cathedral, and distant mountainside neighborhoods such as San Cristobal Hill, currently a settlement that is on its way to becoming an urbanized section of the city.
Veer to the east, arriving at an unassuming shop which specializes in regional ingredients! After sampling classic Spanish-Peruvian dishes that Lima has to offer, here enjoy locally grown coffee from the high jungles of Peru and famous cured meats that commonly accompany such quick snacks customarily sandwiched between lunch and dinner, similar to tea time.
Next, take a short stroll to a very famous alameda that borders the Rimac River, one of the very reasons Lima is where it is, where you will be able to observe amusing street performers and listen to classic and lively music, all while tasting some classic creole snacks such as traditional pumpkin and sweet potato doughnuts and unique Peruvian beverages. We might even be able to taste a beloved corn-based, savory snack from Northern Peru.
We will walk to the beautiful San Martin Plaza inaugurated early in the 20th century and which pays homage to the famous and important South American liberator that lends his name. Take a stroll around this historic site, with its white facades and charmingly intimate atmosphere that reminisces of the golden age of Peruvian politics and aristocracy. Then, your guide will take you to one of Lima's oldest and well known bars to savor Peru's most recognized and traditional cocktails. Even if you don't enjoy alcohol, there are some classic virgin drinks to try, and this cozy atmosphere is one to take home with you!
Finally, street food has always been a cornerstone of Limeño culture and as willing participants, we will dine on marinated beef skewers and sip on a hearty and warm evening drink to bring our urban street adventure to a close.
At the end of the evening, we will drop you back off at your hotel.
Although we will try our best to substitute as many meat-based ingredients as possible, Peruvian cuisine is not traditionally vegetarian friendly and not all items will have available replacements. All the same, we pride ourselves on being creative food experts and will do our best to leave satisfied with the number of flavors Peru has to offer.
